Fast Facts:  2009 is Chip Yates’ first season as a professional racer, following a strong showing in 2008 as a WERA and AFM amateur in the U.S.A.

His first-ever motorcycle race was April, 2007 as an amateur novice in Las Vegas and Chip and his crew chief Jimmy Summers have not looked back since.  For 2009, Chip is under contract to race the #89 Suzuki GSX-R600 for SWIGZ.COM Pro Racing in the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike class.

Career Highlights:  2008 – Chip enjoyed top 5 finishes at racetracks including Infineon Raceway, Miller Motorsports Park, California Speedway , Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Buttonwillow Raceway Park.  Chip finished 4^th place in the 2008 championship (WERA West 1,000cc superbike championship on a stock 600cc bike).  2007 – Chip powered an outdated GSX-R750 to 4^th place in the 2007 championship (WERA West 1,000cc superstock championship) during his first-ever year of motorcycle racing.

Prior to his recent start in motorcycle racing, Chip was a professional rally car driver in the U.S.A. and together with his wife Julie, won the 2001 SCCA Pro-Rally 2-wheel-drive championship in the southern pacific division.

Personal:  Married to Julie who is a competitive horse-jumper, enjoys building his own racebikes and engines, is an engineer with an MBA degree from USC, holds 7 patents on consumer products and toy inventions.  Attended Culver Military Academy in Indiana for his 4 years of high school.
